I was responsible for all stages of the podium architecture in this project. I developed a series of design studies exploring a modern interpretation of Roman architecture. Inspired by Italian Rationalism, I focused on massing, the tectonic relationship between materials, and restrained geometric forms.
The design is defined by the rhythm and depth of fluted terrazzo pillars, the solidity of travertine walls, and the elegance of curved cornices. The interplay of light and shadow, the textured travertine exterior, and the smooth limestone interior create a rich, temple-like peristyle. This composition is contrasted by the precision and clarity of low-iron glass, adding a contemporary counterpoint to the classical materiality.
