Tallinn Architecture Biennale 2026 Installation competition:
Winner of Honorable Mention.
Conceived for TAB 2026 under the theme “Budget Bougie,” I am an architectural
paradox. I challenge the assumption that spatial generosity requires vast budgets
and expensive materials. Instead, I offer the ultimate luxury - the illusion of
infinite space - forged through radical ingenuity and geometric discipline.

Rooted in the forced perspective of Borromini’s Palazzo Spada, I cause small spaces to appear monumental. Sited on the green before the Estonian Museum of Architecture, my entrance stands at the maximum five-meter height. As visitors enter my white, slatted wooden corridor, my geometry distorts. My floor inclines, my roof line accelerates downward, and my timber frames taper inward. I simulate a vast pavilion while maintaining a highly efficient footprint that leaves the pedestrian passage unobstructed.
Built entirely from standard, locally sourced timber, I operate on a zero-waste
logic. The structural offcuts from my five-meter entrance frames are systematically
salvaged to build the progressively smaller two-meter frames at my culmination.

I prove that the traditional markers of architectural wealth - excess and waste - are
the true illusions. I demonstrate that refinement and “bougie” elegance require only
a brilliant shift in perspective. I am an invitation to experience how thoughtful
design can transform the everyday into the extraordinary.
